Our Story

The Stewards

Eric, Abby, & Family

Welcome home to the Bella Vista! We are so excited to have the opportunity to host you and share the beauty of the Bella Vista with you.  Our journey began as students at Colorado State University where we met and fell in love. 10 years later we married, started a family, and became the humble stewards of Bella Vista!

Since taking over the Estate in 2016, the Bella Vista has completely transformed to what it deserves to be; a true sanctuary that is beautiful both inside and out.  It has been a labor of love and we want nothing more than for you to come and connect with those who are closest to you. When we are not dreaming of what the future holds for the Estate, we love hiking, biking, skiing, camping and spending time with our two young children.  We hope that you will come some day and enjoy this beautiful slice of heaven that we call home!

General Manager

Originally from the Atlanta area, Kat moved to Steamboat Springs in 2011 after working and playing seasonally in Alaska. This life layover extended season by season as the mountains, rivers, and community of the Yampa Valley inspired Kat and her now husband, Jeff, to grow roots and stay awhile.

Kat brings over 10 years of professional experience in guest service and hospitality operations to the Bella Vista team, hailing most recently from one of Steamboat’s most renowned properties, One Steamboat Place. Bringing a passion for service and desire to genuinely connect with people- from all walks of life- Kat is thrilled to engage in the world of lodging and events from the Bella Vista vantage point.

Outside of the “office”, Kat can be found adoring her little guy, Jack as he explores the big, wide world around him. She loves escaping the buzz of daily life by hiking the many wilderness areas of Colorado, traveling to new places both near and far, and being 100% present in the dance studio.

Property Manager

Thomas Buder

Tom was born and raised in Alton Illinois across the river from St Louis Missouri. He moved to the mountain west at 19, attended and graduated college in Steamboat where he received a degree in Resort Hospitality Management.  He then spent the next 15 years in the Resort and Recreation sporting goods industry.

After changing careers, he excelled in the private property management service industry for 23 years. Tom is thrilled to return to Steamboat and be a helpful part of the Bella Vista family, hoping to impart his experience and skills to enhance the property and the guest experience.

In his free time, Tom enjoys the great outdoors, cycling, skiing, hiking, camping, art, riding his motorcycle, travel, and just loves poking around the main streets of cute small towns.
